Union Home Mortgage Foundation Announces Second Quarter Grant Recipients

The Union Home Mortgage Foundation, a charitable organization whose mission is to equip families with the tools and resources to achieve economic self-sufficiency, has announced its grant recipients for the second quarter of 2021. The list includes five recipients across three states and includes a new nonprofit partner.

STRONGSVILLE, Ohio--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Union Home Mortgage Foundation, a charitable organization whose mission is to equip families with the tools and resources to achieve economic self-sufficiency, has announced its grant recipients for the second quarter of 2021. The list includes five recipients across three states and includes a new nonprofit partner.

Through this cycle, the Foundation is providing support to organizations making critical contributions to communities in the areas of financial literacy, community development and education in Ohio, Pennsylvania and South Carolina. The grants total $25,000 and will help these organizations develop permanent solutions to improve the lives of those families and individuals with access to these services. The UHM Foundation is pleased to partner with Soteria for the first time in 2021.

The second quarter 2021 grant recipients are:

Cleveland, OH

  • Greater Cleveland Reach Out and Read – $5,000 in support of its core programming to train doctors and nurses to integrate literacy promotion as a standard component of primary care with participating clinics in the area. Children receive free books at their well-child checkups from infancy through five years of age.
  • Empowering and Strengthening Ohio’s People (ESOP) – $5,000 towards its Financial Wellness and Housing Stability Services for low-to-moderate income residents.

Youngstown, OH

  • Youngstown Neighborhood Development Corporation (YNDC) – $5,000 towards its Community Financial Empowerment Initiative, a program that provides on-on-one financial counseling to help identify barriers to obtaining and sustaining affordable housing, including inadequate saving, credit history, and knowledge of the homeownership/leasing process.

Exton, PA

  • Home of the Sparrow – $5,000 in support of eviction prevention services for over 1,000 women and mothers annually in Chester County through financial literacy, access to trauma services, emergency funds, employment resources and more.

Greenville, SC

  • Soteria Community Development Corporation – $5,000 towards the operational costs to run Soteria House, a supportive housing program for those exiting the criminal justice system while providing holistic services ranging from medical care, job training, family reunification, financial literacy and legal services.
