The Union Home Mortgage Foundation, a charitable organization whose mission is to equip families with the tools and resources to achieve economic self-sufficiency, announced it is giving back by donating $5,000 to Family Promise of Las Vegas.
Las Vegas, NV – Feb. 3, 2022 – In an ongoing effort to support and improve local communities, the Union Home Mortgage Foundation (UHMF) is giving back by donating $5,000 to Family Promise of Las Vegas.
Family Promise of Las Vegas helps at-risk and homeless families with children in Clark County achieve sustainable housing and independence through a compassionate, community-based response.
UHMF’s funding will be used to support Family Promise’s financial literacy programming. In collaboration with the national office, Family Promise of Las Vegas developed a financial management course uniquely tailored to the families it serves called New Beginnings Financial Literacy. Over the past two years, Family Promise of Las Vegas has held over 100 workshops and provided close to 300 “New Beginnings Financial Literacy” workbooks to families in need. These weekly workshops are facilitated by a professional financial planner and help families learn critical tools like creating and managing a budget to be more financially independent.
"Family Promise of Las Vegas seeks to help families become financially self-sufficient, and our New Beginnings Financial Management classes teach parents and teens valuable skills to manage their income and prevent future episodes of homelessness. We are grateful for the grant from UHMF, which will help us purchase additional training materials,” said Terry Ruth Lindemann, Executive Director of Family Promise of Las Vegas.
“We’re proud to support Family Promise of Las Vegas in this critical area of need,” said Bill Cosgrove, President & CEO of Union Home Mortgage. “Family Promise is a new partner of ours, and we look forward to seeing all the great work they do to help families realize the dream of homeownership.”
