Avondale, Arizona – The Union Home Mortgage Foundation (UHMF), a charitable organization whose mission is to equip families with the tools and resources to achieve economic self-sufficiency, today announced it is giving back by donating $7,500 to Homeless Youth Connection.
Homeless Youth Connection (HYC) eliminates barriers to graduation for homeless youth in 9th through 12th grades and creates lasting solutions for a successful future through community support and increased awareness. The donation from UHMF is in support of their “Empowering Youth for the Future Program.” Through this program, HYC engages youth experiencing homelessness in trauma-informed, client-led, strengths-based interventions related to housing, academics, health, hygiene, employment, and independent living skills. All services are provided at no cost to the youth, high school, school district, or state. During the 2020 to 2021 school year (?), HYC served 322 students through these programs.
“This past year has been challenging in many ways and to have the continued support from Union Home Mortgage Foundation to ensure youth experiencing homelessness can stay enrolled in school and receive assistance for basic needs, school supplies including computers and hot spots, and access to healthcare and often housing is truly incredible. We are grateful for the continued support both financially and with advocacy,” said Dawn Bogart, CEO of Homeless Youth Connection.
Homeless Youth Connection is one of 26 non-profit organizations Union Home Mortgage Foundation has supported so far this year.
“At Union Home, we know the importance of education and kids having access to school regardless of any barriers. We support HYC for ensuring youth experiencing homelessness stay enrolled in school and receive the care they need. Thank you, Homeless Youth Connection, for everything you do in your community and we look forward to seeing what you do in the future,” said Bill Cosgrove, President and CEO of Union Home Mortgage.
