Avondale, AZ – In an ongoing effort to support and improve local communities, the Union Home Mortgage Foundation is giving back by donating $7,500 to the Avondale, Arizona-based nonprofit Homeless Youth Connection.
Homeless Youth Connection strives to eliminate barriers to graduation and create lasting solutions for a successful future for local homeless youth. Its Empowering Youth for the Future program pairs coaches with program participants to identify needs related to housing, academics, health, hygiene, employment, and independent living skills. The coach then helps provide comprehensive service strategies to engage these individuals in trauma-informed, client-led, strength-based interventions.
Over the past few years, ninety-four percent of Homeless Youth Connection participating high school seniors stayed in school to complete their graduation, and 80% of graduates enroll in college, enter the military, or join the workforce. The resources and support Homeless Youth Connection provides at-need individuals an opportunity for all participants to have a successful future.
“The continued support from the Union Home Mortgage Foundation ensures youth experiencing homelessness can stay enrolled in school and receive assistance for basic needs, school supplies, health care access and, often, housing. Their partnership is truly incredible, and we are grateful for the continual support both financially and through their advocacy,” said Dawn Bogart, CEO of Homeless Youth Connection.
“We believe that education is a means for empowering individuals and creating pathways of opportunity for those who may otherwise face barriers to independence and economic stability. These values are integral for helping removing barriers to personal growth and strengthening our communities,” said Bill Cosgrove, President and CEO of Union Home Mortgage. “Homeless Youth Connection is performing incredible work in this space, and we are proud to support their efforts.”
