Soteria CDC is an organization that advocates for the economic and social justice of those and their families impacted by the criminal justice system. It delivers sustainable and direct services to those returning to society from incarceration, breaking the cycle of crime and poverty for so many individuals. Services offered include transitional housing, transportation, education, employment, and advocacy.
Funding from the Union Home Mortgage Foundation will support the operational costs to run Soteria House, a 16-bed transitional home in Travelers Rest.
“Stable housing, coupled with life skills and career readiness training, is a crucial element to allowing these individuals to reenter society successfully,” said Bill Cosgrove, President & CEO of Union Home Mortgage and Chairman of the Foundation. “It is critical to provide individuals with healthy, viable options for their future. We are proud to support organizations like Soteria that emphasize the value in providing these resources to local families.”
Soteria Community Development Corporation is one of 16 non-profit organizations Union Home Mortgage Foundation has supported so far this year.
"Soteria CDC is grateful for the partnership with the Union Home Mortgage Foundation,” said Jerry Blassingame, Founder and Executive Director of Soteria CDC. “Criminal justice reform starts at the grassroots level with meaningful partnerships in the local community. The Union Home Mortgage Foundation is being responsible partners by doing their part and providing funding to help individuals transition back into the community after incarceration."
