Support will ensure that 50 single mothers will have free access to programming
Baton Rouge, Louisiana – May 17, 2021 – The Union Home Mortgage Foundation, a charitable organization whose mission is to equip families with the tools and resources to achieve economic self-sufficiency, today announced it is giving $10,000 in grant funding to the Baton Rouge, Louisiana-based nonprofit, The Life of Single Mom (TLSM). In an ongoing effort to support and improve local communities, this funding will allow 50 single mothers to access TLSM’s Single Mom University program free of charge.
Single Mom University is an online life skills classroom, offering more than 150 classes to single mothers in a variety of areas, including parenting, financial management, and overall emotional and mental health. The comprehensive nature of the program lays a strong foundation for mothers to thrive holistically. Throughout the pandemic, TLSM has added close to 50 online courses and now has more than 1,000 single mothers enrolling in this program.
"We are grateful for the continued support from the Union Home Mortgage Foundation,” said Jennifer Maggio, CEO of The Life of a Single Mom. "Their commitment to ensuring no single mom walks alone brings hope to families who are sometimes hopeless. Their support means families have a necessary road map to success."
The Life of a Single Mom is one of 11 non-profit organizations Union Home Mortgage Foundation has supported so far this year.
“Every year, the Foundation tries its best to support nonprofits that continuously give to their communities,” said Christina Fagan, Executive Director of the Union Home Mortgage Foundation. “This year feels a little different, as the needs that the nonprofits have had to meet are much greater than what we have seen in the past. We are thrilled to support TLSM as their programming helps single mothers achieve economic self-sufficiency and one day, homeownership.”
